Many will hear me say to folks “hit the ball as far as you can see it” when they ask for advice on the Bann, and this is where that truly comes into effect. Your tee shot is presented with a relatively narrow gap at the top of a hill, deep rough on the left and right, but what you can’t see is that it turns left and goes down the hill again, two plateau’s reside on the other side and depending if you’ve taken the right line over the hill you may be at the top, on the first, or run down to the second.
Playing it at the left hand side of the fairway from the tee should allow you to have around 140 left downhill to a green defended on all sides except for a 20 foot strip of fairway, “What’s the good news?” I hear you ask.
It's usually the most receptive green on the Bann.
