Player Testimonials

Scott Simpson 1987 US Open Winner What a fun day for my son and I. It's a challenging but fun links course, and with some beautiful views. The course was in great condition and especially good greens. It had a really fun nice mix of holes. Nice folks, and thanks for a great day.

Dave Thomas - former Ryder Cup player, and course architect "The Mussenden links course is in superb condition with some very formidable rough if you miss the fairways. In particular, I liked the "Leg O Mutton", 4th hole, a par 3 which presents a very testing tee shot even without a testing wind. The course winds its way through dune land and contains several other very good holes of tournament standard with greens that fall away to the wrong shot.
The 5th hole par 5 on the nine hole Bann course, alongside the River Bann estuary, would be an asset to any golf course in the country."

Paul McGinley

Course record holder Paul McGinley (64) stated "the greens out there were as good as if not better than the ones we played on at the Open at Royal Lytham"

Golf Today Magazine - Bob Fagan Castlerock is the "hidden gem" with some holes in the dunes and some inland more reminiscent of the Scottish links with their more muted mounds. Either way, I loved the course and its 9-hole Bann Course is among the more intriguing and audacious in the game, beautifully situated closest to the sea in the rugged dunes.

Golf & Incentive Travel Castlerock, one of the most welcoming clubs in the land. The championship 18 is only slightly less vintage than the two Ports, but no less intoxicating. From the nerve-jangling fourth (only 200 yards, with the railway to the right and Snake River ditch to the left) to the innocuous 16th, Castlerock is simply beguiling

David Brice  Golf International Inc."Castlerock goes all but unnoticed by visiting golfers - a tragedy for such a stunning links and an even greater tragedy for the visitors. Miss this beauty and you are missing a treat."

"The Leg of Mutton, one of the single most talked about golf challenges in Northern Ireland golfing circles" John Redmond "Great Golf Courses of Ireland"

"If the two "Royals", Portrush and County Down, rank among the jewels of links' golf, Portstewart and Castlerock are semi-precious stones. Unpolished gems, remote and primitive in some way as Atlantic breezes sting both cheeks and leave you with a feeling that this was how the game was meant to be played."Jack Magowan - Golfdays
